Breaking the Silence – Reducing Isolation: A New Project

We are thrilled to announce the launch of Breaking the Silence , a brand-new project designed to foster connection, creativity, improved mental health and reduce isolation. Through a series of engaging workshops running fortnightly, we aim to bring people together, encourage self-expression, and reduce feelings of isolation. Whether you’re looking to explore a new hobby, meet like-minded individuals, or simply step outside of your comfort zone, this project is the perfect opportunity to do so in a warm and welcoming environment.

Kicking Off on February 27th

Mark your calendars! The project officially begins on February 27th with an exciting introductory session. To set the tone for the journey ahead, we’ll be engaging in a combined fun activity that incorporates both digital and analogue photography. This session is designed to break the ice and encourage everyone to share images in a creative way. Presently this project is open to the MoMENtum membership only. If you are not part of MoMENtum and would like to take part, please get in touch.

We encourage participants to bring along their mobile phones or, if preferred, send over a digital file you’re happy to share and print. This will allow us to create a collective visual diary, setting the foundation for the journey ahead. Tea & Biscuits supplied. Don’t forget a packed lunch. We start at 11am and will finish about 2. For ease the first workshop will be taking place at Flowerpot Lane Community Centre. I know most of you know where this is but if not, please see map at the bottom of the page.

Upcoming Workshop: Figurative Drawing with Ez – March 6th

The second workshop in the series will take place on March 6th, featuring an immersive Figurative Drawing session with the talented Ez. No previous drawing experience is necessary – just an open mind and a willingness to explore creativity through form and expression. All materials will be provided, so all you need to bring is yourself! More information to follow for Ezra’s workshop and upcoming workshops, walks and talks.

To make the session even more enjoyable, we’ll be serving tea and biscuits – a small but comforting touch to help create a relaxed and sociable atmosphere, there may even be some Jazz! As always, the focus is on connection, self-expression, and building confidence through artistic engagement.

What’s Next?

Beyond these initial sessions, Breaking the Silence – Reducing Isolation has a fantastic line-up of workshops, activities, and walks planned over the coming months. Each session is designed to provide a safe space for individuals to come together, learn new skills, and support one another through shared experiences. We will be exploring a wide range of creative outlets, from visual arts to storytelling, all aimed at fostering positive mental health and a sense of belonging.

For those interested in attending, please check out the Google map below for the exact location of our workshops. We want to ensure that everyone who wishes to join can find their way with ease.

If you or someone you know would benefit from participating in this project, we encourage you to spread the word and get involved. Let’s work together to break the silence, build meaningful connections, and reduce isolation through creativity and community.

Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming workshops and activities. We can’t wait to embark on this journey!
